A Harrow College staff member has received a regional award recognising his years of dedication to students.
Staff at Harrow College, part of Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC), nominated Sports Coordinator Ian Collier for a Jack Petchey Leader Award.
The awards recognise the commitment of adults who go above and beyond to support young people.
Ian provides a variety of sports and often takes students to venues off-site to take part in different activities, as well as sharing details of wider opportunities for them to participate in sports outside of college.
Ian has also delivered bespoke activities for both ESOL and Foundation students, ensuring as many HRUC students as possible can experience the benefits of sports.
In addition to Ian’s recognition, Harrow College will receive a Leader Award Grant of up to £1,000 for a project that benefits young people. The college is currently investigating how the grant can be used to enhance its Big 4 Enrichment Offer, designed to inspire new experiences and help students get the most out of college life.
Lee Janaway, HRUC Assistant Director for Student Services, said: “We are really pleased that Ian has been recognised for his work with Harrow students. Ian is committed to encouraging our young people to participate in sports activities and whatever the weather takes groups of students to local facilities to develop their skills and socialise with other students. Well done Ian!”
