Delivery/Study method
A minimum of 30 hours per week of on-the-job training at the workplace. This is combined with a hybrid learning model for studying the theory elements one day per week. Apprentices can complete most of their theory learning either remotely online or at our Uxbridge/ Hayes/ Harrow campuses. Learning observations will need to be completed at one of our college campuses.

What will I learn?
Adult Care Workers must know and understand:
- The tasks and responsibilities of the job role relevant to the context of the service in which they are working. This could include supporting with social activities, monitoring health, assisting with eating, mobility and personal care.
- The importance of respecting diversity and treating everyone equally
- How to find out the best way to communicate with the individual they are supporting. The role of advocates and when they might be involved
- What abuse is and what to do when they have concerns someone is being abused
- The health and safety responsibilities of self, employer and workers
- What a professional relationship is with the person being supported and colleagues
- Support individuals they are working with according to their personal care/support plan.

Duration and assessment
Typically 12 - 18 months.
Assessment includes:
- A work-based portfolio to demonstrate the skills you have learnt at work related projects
- An end-point assessment.
Apprentices must undertake the Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result prior to starting. -
